What is Rapé ? All you need to know.

Rapé is one type of sacred healing snuff that has been used for thousands of years in the Amazon region as a powerful tool, yet gentle on the soul. It is a mixture of powdered tobacco (powdered tobacco leaves) combined with ashes of various plants, herbs, flowers and tree bark, rubbed through a very fine sieve into fine and dry dust.

The very process of creating rapé is mystical and multi-stage, and the methods of preparing individual plants often remain a mystery of the tribes. The basis of rapé is Nicotiana rustica or tobacco from the Amazon (also called mapacho). It is many times stronger than the tobacco used in cigarettes.

Among rapé you will find many different types of mixtures with different composition, i.e. primarily the proportions and content of various ashes from sacred, healing trees and such plants as cocoa or Tsunu beans. Each of them provides different activities and experiences while receiving. If you are interested in certain types of rapé and their effects, I recommend you to explore the various types of sacred snuff (by checking our Instagram @jangurushop or facebook) and find, even intuitively, what rapé your heart needs at a given moment in your life.

Some types of rapé will strengthen your sense of your own femininity, others will increase your spiritual energy, allow you to think more creatively or improve your concentration.

Rapé is not accepted for entertainment purposes - it is sacred medicine, which has the key to open your heart and head, let you feel and understand yourself better, strengthen yourself and tune to your own rhythm.

The domain of rapé is knowledge, insight, meditation and healing.

How does rapé work?

Thanks to the content of natural nicotine, rapé stimulates the brain to produce epinephrine, acetylcholine and dopamine, which are key neurotransmitters responsible for mindfulness, focus and concentration. Rapé cleanses the body of toxins, excess mucus and bacteria. It also cleans and unblocks energy channels, "detoxifying" them from what is harmful to us and from any energetic attachments.

Rapé has an antidepressant and stimulating effect, opens the head, stimulates creative thinking and intuition, allows you to think holistically. It improves sensation and sharpens the senses. Shamanic powder wonderfully puts you to meditation, makes you feel more “here and now”, does not wander your thoughts, connects the physical and spiritual world.

Has a positive effect on the decalcification of the pineal gland - a gland that is responsible, among others, for the production of melatonin and for clairvoyance.

How to use rapé ?

Although the rapé is made of tobacco, it is not a smoking product. Rapé is blown into the nose.

WE CAN SEE TWO WAYS OF GIVING RAPEE: ceremonial and self-serving.

1. Ceremonial service

Two people participate in a typical ceremony. First one of them blows the other rapé through a bamboo or bone tube called a tepi. The serving of the rapé begins with the left buttonhole, which symbolizes the death or farewell of the old man. Then it goes to the right buttonhole which symbolizes the rebirth or the welcoming of a new one.

The experience of the person administering the rapé is also important. It is best if it is someone who can control his thoughts and is aware that he is sharing healing energy with the breath. Moreover, before such a person gives a rapé, they should take the medicine themselves to cleanse their mind, spirit, and body of anything that is external or might interfere with the process. Don't take rapé from someone you don't know or trust, listen to your inner voice.

2.Self-service

Rapé can also be self-administered with a V-shaped tube called kuripe.

How to do it? It is enough to draw the medicine to the tip of the kuripe applicator and place it in the nostril. Put the other end to your mouth and blow the contents of the other nose piece out.

Before starting the ceremony, it is very important to establish your intention as this will direct the energy in the right direction. Here too, it is important to apply medicine to both nostrils, one after the other - this way you will harmonize the flowing energy and both hemispheres of the brain. After taking rapé, mucus, phlegm may appear in the nose and throat. Do not hold back the secretion or swallow it.

Rapé for beginners

If you are just starting your adventure with rapé, it is very important to choose the right mixture. From my experience, I know that a bit softer mixtures are the best at the beginning

such as apurina, cumaru or murici.

How many rapé should you take?

This is a very individual matter, but at the beginning I recommend an amount not larger than a pea (half for each hole). If you don't notice any effect, try taking a little more next time.

How often to use rapé?

It is also a very individual matter. The best answer is how you feel.

Milder mixtures can be taken up to several times daily. Stronger ones (such as croa, tsunu) are best used every few days or before meditation.

Does rapé have side effects?

Rapé is a plant-based substance that is safe to use. Unless, of course, it is treated with due respect - as a medicine, not as a recreational drug. It is possible toRapéRapé develop temporary symptoms in the form of dizziness, accelerated heartbeat, rapid movements in the intestines immediately after application, diarrhea or even vomiting, but all these symptoms pass very quickly (if they occur at all) and are part of the process.

If these symptoms occur, it means that your body and energy are in particular need of cleansing and healing.

Try to feel what you are letting go of, why you feel sick or even vomit.

Remember: rapé should not be mixed with alcohol or used during pregnancy. Due to the nicotine contained in the mixture, rapé can lead to addiction

if it is used too often or as a stimulant (in my experience it is difficult to find such a situation if you approach sacred medicine with the right intention)

Rapé should not be swallowed, spit out and drizzle when finished.
